## Kintsugi Raises $6M to Expand Tax Automation

San Francisco, California — May 29, 2024

Sales-tax complexity grows with a business’s customer base. Kintsugi announced a $6 million Series A funding round at a $40 million valuation to further develop its sales-tax automation platform.

Link Ventures led the round, with support from Venture Highway, KyberKnight, Plug and Play, DeVC, and angel investors. The funding supported expansion into automated VAT solutions for Canada and Europe and broader support for businesses operating globally.

Kintsugi was founded by industry veterans including Stanford graduate and former Facebook machine-learning engineer Pujun Bhatnagar and former Atlassian executive Jeff Gibson. The company was conceived in response to the fragmented compliance landscape that followed the 2018 *South Dakota v. Wayfair* decision.

Kintsugi’s platform supports nexus monitoring, product categorization, tax calculations, registration, filing, exemption-certificate handling, and back-tax compliance. Its goal is to make sales-tax compliance more manageable for businesses of different sizes.
