Another disadvantage of Avalara is its poor customer support. Several customers paid extra to receive premium customer support. Unfortunately, to their dismay, they still needed to wait for a day to receive responses to their concerns.

"Premium support is 24 hours per email response," Adam S. wrote.

Adam added that support would close tickets even without providing a solution to the problem they raised. Instead, Avalara reportedly told them it was a "user error."

"After repeatedly following up, they will admit the error was internal and not user [a] error but not offer any explanation," he added.

"It's got an outdated user interface and it's fairly expensive. The implementation was fairly laborious," the Vertex customer said.
