Importing historical transactions is where many new customers get stuck: a column is missing, a date is in the wrong format, and the first you hear of it is a failed upload. We've changed the upload flow so you find those problems before you commit the file.
The changes are live for all Kintsugi users.
What changed
A preview before you import. When you upload a CSV, you now see it first. Kintsugi lists the errors it found, such as missing fields, invalid formatting or the wrong data type, and says how to fix each one. You correct the file and upload it again, with nothing half-imported in the meantime.
Step-by-step help documentation. The help docs now walk through how to format your data, which problems come up most often, and how to finish an upload. Read it before you export from your old system and you'll avoid most of the errors the preview would have caught.
Send the file to support from the app. If you've hit an error you can't fix, click to send the file straight to our support team. You don't have to email it or wait in a queue, and the team can see the same file you're looking at.
Why it matters
Your transaction history is what Kintsugi uses to work out where you have nexus, so a bad import means bad numbers downstream. Catching errors at upload gets you onto the platform faster, and the support shortcut means a stuck file doesn't hold up your onboarding.
What's next
We're working on a way to track all your file uploads in one place and on multi-file uploads, so a large history doesn't have to go in one file at a time.
