Economic Nexus Calculator

Economic nexus is the sales tax obligation a remote seller takes on by selling more than a state's threshold into it, with no office, staff or inventory there. Since South Dakota v. Wayfair (2018), all 45 states with a statewide sales tax and Washington, D.C. set one, most often $100,000 in sales over the current or previous calendar year. Enter your sales and transactions by state, or upload a CSV, to see which thresholds you have crossed, which you are approaching, and each state's rule. Every threshold comes from our economic nexus by state table, last verified September 26, 2026.

Estimates based on published thresholds as of September 26, 2026; not tax advice. Measurement periods and what counts toward a threshold differ by state, and physical presence can create nexus on its own. See every state's rule and source in the economic nexus by state table.

Economic nexus calculator FAQ

  • An economic nexus calculator compares your sales and transaction counts in each state with that state's published economic nexus threshold. It shows which states you have likely crossed, which you are approaching, and the rule each state applies, so you know where to register for sales tax.
