Getting Started for Partners
Kintsugi Portfolio lets you create new Kintsugi organizations for each of your clients and helps you manage them over time. Here are the steps to get your clients up and running.
Create your client organizations
For each client you’re onboarding, you’ll need to start with creating a new organization in Kintsugi. This step will let you connect their systems and prepare for full automation. Later in this guide, we’ll show you how to invite your clients to access the new organization.
- From the dashboard at partner.trykintsugi.com, click New Client.
- Give this client organization a name. If you are running a test before officially onboarding the client, check off the “Test client” option.
- Your new organization will be added to your list of clients. Click the “View Client” button to the right of the client name to open Kintsugi for that client.
Connect your data
Now that you have your account, the next step is to connect your data. This helps us show you how your growing sales impact your sales tax liability.
- In the product, click Data Sources to get started.
- Browse the list of integrations to find the one that matches your platform. Select the integration, then follow the step-by-step guide to connect your account.
Available integrations: Amazon | BigCommerce | Bill.com | Bunny | Campfire | Chargebee | Checkout Champ | Deel | DualEntry | Magento | Maxio | Microsoft Dynamics 365 | NetSuite | Orb | Ordway | QuickBooks | Recurly | Rillet | Sage Intacct | Shopify | Shopline | Shopware | Stripe | Walmart | Wix | WooCommerce | Xero | Zenskar | Zuora
Due to API limitations on many platforms, the initial import may take 2–3 days if you have a large number of transactions.
If you’re using a platform we haven’t released an integration for yet, you can upload your data in CSV format instead.
Configure your account
About your client’s business
Now that your client’s data import is underway, let’s move on to setting up the additional details needed to monitor, register, and file their sales tax.
In the product, click “Configuration” to get started.
On the “Organization Details” tab, you’ll find the fields to enter the information required by the jurisdictions:
- Business Details
- Business Information
- Business Contact Person
- Company Owners
Presence Information
This is an important step, don’t skip it! Sales tax liability is determined in several ways, and to calculate your client’s taxes accurately, Kintsugi needs to know about their physical presence.
- In the product, click “Presence” to get started.
- Click the “New” button to add your client’s business’s physical presence. You can leave the end date blank if they have not ended their presence in a location.
Remember, “presence” may include:
- Physical stores
- Offices
- Mailing addresses
- Warehouses
- Employees living in the state or having regular presence (include remote employees and contractors)
- States where inventory is stored
- States where you attend events or trade shows
Complete your import
Once your data is flowing in, take a minute to review the Pending Tasks on your Kintsugi dashboard.
Check your addresses
Kintsugi automatically validates physical addresses. If any addresses are missing or invalid, they’ll appear in your Pending Tasks.
Invalid addresses:
You can bulk-update invalid addresses with their suggested corrections.
Blank addresses:
Use the AI icon in the upper right of the blank addresses list to fill in missing information automatically.
Products
Knowing how your products are categorized allows us to apply the correct sales tax rates. If you have many products, Kintsugi Intelligence can help you classify them automatically. You can also bulk-approve all products at once, or have our Kintsugi AI categorize them for you using the AI icon.
Give your client access
Now that you have things set up, if your customer needs direct access to Kintsugi for their account, you can invite them.
- While managing the client organization, click Configuration in the left menu.
- Click the Users tab.
- Click the Invite button in the upper right.
- Enter your client’s email address and select the appropriate role for this individual.
