Kintsugi tracks, reports, and files your OpenMeter sales tax

  • TrackFree

    See your nexus, everywhere

Kintsugi checks your OpenMeter invoices against registration and reporting thresholds and flags where you have exposure.

  • Report

Reports that match what you billed

Invoice lines keep the metered quantity and unit price, with discounts already in the line amount, so reports match what customers saw.

  • File

    File through Kintsugi

Your synced invoices feed your returns, so you can file through Kintsugi without rebuilding your usage billing data.

How OpenMeter connects to Kintsugi

Kintsugi reads your customers and issued invoices from Kong Konnect Metering & Billing. It never writes to your billing. You keep setting tax in OpenMeter.

Kintsugi integrations list with connect buttons and exposure status
  1. Create a personal access token

In Konnect, create a personal access token with the Metering & Billing Admin role.

  2. Connect

In Kintsugi, open Data Sources, choose OpenMeter, then enter your token and pick your region. Add a label if you want to tell connections apart.

  3. Review and go

Syncing starts right away. Kintsugi creates products from your invoice lines for you to review, flags addresses to fix, and starts watching your thresholds.

What Kintsugi syncs from OpenMeter

Data synced from OpenMeter and how Kintsugi uses it
SyncedWhat Kintsugi does with it
InvoicesIssued invoices, with line items, for nexus tracking and reports. Draft invoices are not imported.
Usage linesMetered quantity and unit price carry over, so usage-based charges line up with what you billed
CustomersName, email, currency, and billing address
ProductsCreated from your invoice lines, which Kintsugi categorizes for tax

Kintsugi creates a product from each invoice line instead of syncing a separate catalog. Konnect does not return a customer tax ID, so Kintsugi does not import one.

Connect OpenMeter your way

Read-only connection

Kintsugi signs in to Kong Konnect with a personal access token that you create and can revoke. It only reads customers and invoices, it never writes to Konnect, and it never changes your tax settings. Kintsugi stores the token securely and does not show it again after you save it. There is no plugin or code to deploy.

Who uses Kintsugi with OpenMeter

  • SaaS, AI, and API companies with usage-based pricing

Metered usage, subscriptions, and hybrid plans all land as invoices, so they sit in one place.

  • Teams billing in more than one region or organization

Kintsugi keeps one connection per Konnect organization and region, so you connect each one on its own.

  • Finance teams who want to file from clean data

Discounts are already in the line amount, and product and address issues surface in one list.

How tax works with OpenMeter

What OpenMeter does

OpenMeter collects usage, turns it into invoices, and is where tax is applied to those invoices.

Where Kintsugi stops

This connection reads customers and invoices only. It does not calculate tax inside OpenMeter and it does not write tax back to your billing.

What Kintsugi adds

Kintsugi imports your issued invoices, including the tax amount OpenMeter recorded, and uses them to track nexus, build reports, and file your returns.

What is not imported

  • Draft invoices are not imported. Kintsugi brings in invoices once they are issued.
  • Credit notes and refunds are not imported.
  • A separate product catalog is not imported. Kintsugi creates products from invoice lines.
  • Customer tax IDs and ship-to addresses are not imported. Kintsugi uses the billing address.
  • OpenMeter Cloud and self-hosted OpenMeter are not supported. The integration connects to Kong Konnect Metering & Billing.
